We ran north on the Des Plaines River trail and most of it was shaded. There were some open areas, which were tough to run through toward the end since it was starting to get hotter. On the way back, I felt like there were more elevation and incline changes, which also were rough.
Most of my group, which was bigger this time, opted to run 16 miles. Only three other runners opted for 18. One guy added two at the end to get to 20.
Yesterday evening, we had our mid-season pizza party. It was nice to see everyone enjoying themselves and out their running clothes. It was hard to recognize people! At dinner, the bf and I socialized with a couple who used to run in my pace group. Their two daughters were adorable. Kids do say the darndest things! We got gelato with them after and had a nice time.
Overall, Week 11 went well, but I definitely have to make a better effort to get more runs and longer runs in the week. PT starts Friday as well and I'm looking forward to that.
How's your training going? Have you ever socialized with running friends/acquaintances in a non-running setting?

Great job getting the distance done and staying sane!
ReplyDeleteTraining is in an odd area for me, it is a little harder to hit my paces than it was a month ago, but I think once I'm more confident in my recovery, it should speed up again!
I Have met up with a few running bloggers for food over the summer!
Yes, I see those WURST posts on your blog and it looks like a lot of fun! Your pace definitely will improve as your recovery progresses.
DeleteI know that I tend to ease back into it slowly after coming back from an injury. Probably safer that way too!
Congrats on the 18+ miles. I don't think I'll run that much in one day until the marathon!
ReplyDeleteYou're an experience marathoner unlike me so I'm sure you will be able to complete it just fine wihout a super long run! I hope your ankle is feeling better. Are you in PT for it?
DeleteIn the alternative, do you want to pace me to a sub-Oprah finish? I can pay you in donuts... or sausage... ;-)
The DPRT is so great when it was hot like this weekend! Was the hill the one just north of Independence Grove? That ones gets me every time ;)
ReplyDeleteI do get together with my running buds outside of running, and you are right - they look so "dressed up"! Ha ha.
Why, yes. Yes, indeed it was that hill! It was evil especially because it was starting to get hot.
DeleteEveryone looked good though and I was just in awe of the older women with bodies like 20 year olds. Now if only I can follow in their footsteps...
Way to go! I love the Des Plaines River Trail- so gorgeous!
